Kokomo native Louie Stout honored on national TV
As a young boy, Louie Stout grew up wade fishing for smallmouth bass in local rivers and streams. But the Kokomo native has done what some only dream of. He parlayed his love of fishing into a full time career. And a comfortable one I might add. His long time duties include serving as a senior writer for BASS Master and BASS Times magazines, among other notable publications. Plus he is well known and respected among our nation’s elite anglers.
In tribute, Stout will be honored by appearing as a special guest on nationally televised Pro Team Journal, sponsored by Strike King. The show will air on the Outdoor Channel this Friday at 11:30 a.m. then again Saturday, 10 a.m. and Sunday, 8:30 a.m.
The broadcast spotlights Stout’s stellar career as an outdoor journalist. Although not the Eel River or Wildcat and Deer Creeks, the memories will flow while he fishes for smallmouth bass on the famed Niagara River. “Anytime I catch a smallmouth, I don’t care from where, it brings back memories fishing for them back home,” Stout said. With his wife Deb, they currently reside just across the Indiana border near Jones, Michigan.
In 2013 Louie Stout was presented with the prestigious Homer Circle Fishing Communicator Award. This national award recognizes the journalist who exemplifies the spirit, dedication, extraordinary talent and commitment to mentoring the next generation of outdoor communicators, as did legendary outdoor journalist Homer Circle during his storied career.
To keep his finger on the pulse of area hunting and fishing activities, the award winning journalist operates Michiana Outdoor News website which can be found at louiestout.com. Here he covers northern Indiana and southern Michigan outdoor opportunities.
